Position Overview
The Buying Officer supports the Buyer in executing category strategies and achieving sales and gross profit (GP) targets. This role focuses on operational execution, including purchase order management, supplier coordination, data analysis, and administrative support. By ensuring smooth day-to-day buying and merchandising processes, the Buying Officer enables the Buyer to focus on strategic initiatives and supplier negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
Buying & Merchandising Support
· Assist the Buyer in analyzing sales reports, market trends, and competitor activities to inform product and pricing decisions.
· Support product selection and development processes, including sample coordination, product checks, and pricing comparisons.
· Maintain accurate product data and ensure timely updates in merchandising systems.
Purchase Order & Inventory Management
· Prepare, process, and track purchase orders for assigned categories.
· Monitor shipments, deliveries, and inventory levels to ensure availability and minimize stock issues.
· Support markdown planning, replenishment, and stock allocation as directed by the Buyer.
Supplier Coordination
· Communicate with suppliers regarding order status, product availability, and documentation requirements.
· Support the Buyer in preparing supplier meeting materials, reports, and follow-ups.
· Maintain positive working relationships with vendors by handling day-to-day communication professionally.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Work closely with Omnichannel, Category Marketing, and Sales & Operations teams to ensure smooth execution of product launches, promotions, and trade plans.
· Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal coordination meetings.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
